MJ Cream - Greyt News

Hey everyone, MJ for the win!  I’ve got some of the best news to share with all of you!  Yesterday was an adoption event at the headquarters.  I met some awesome people and got to hang with my brother, Marc, for a bit.  Man!  It was so good to see him again!  We used to really do some crazy stuff together when we were pups.  That crazy dude haven’t changed a bit...and he found his furever home!  Good for him!  Luv ya Bro!  Anyway, back to my greyt news...I didn’t find my furever yesterday.  “Well, MJ, how is that good news?”  you may ask.  Well, folks, I’ll tell you!  Since I didn’t find my furever family it means that I’m still available!  Just think, YOU still have a chance to make me your favorite family member!  Also, I get more time with the Fo-fam to practice all the dog stuff I’m learning.  So take heart, my peeps!  I’m still only just one snuggle away!  Hope to see you next time!

MJ Cream - Tomorrow

Hey everyone!  MJ for the win here!  Tomorrow will be a fantastic day!  I’ll get to meet a lot of you guys!  I love meeting new folks!  Maybe one of you are my new family!  I’m really pulling for you all because I AM a pretty good catch!  You may be very lucky to add me to your family but just know that I will be the real winner because you will be my furever family!  As you can see I’m resting up for tomorrow so I can put my best foot forward.  I’m a great boy that is eager to learn and love!  There will be a bunch of greyt dogs tomorrow (one is actually my brother-Marc) but I hope you see that I’m pretty greyt too!  I love to snuggle and play...I’m simply a real delight!  Give me a chance and I’ll show you!  SEE YOU TOMORROW!

Marc is ready for tomorrow.

Hi friends, before I see you tomorrow, I wanted to let you know that I’ve been practicing so many things that I’m told are important. Leash manners? Check. Getting up and down stairs? Check. Relaxing at home while my foster people are out? Check. Playing with a squeaky toy? Check.

Even though I’ve been working hard I still need more practice with all those things. Especially the stairs! I hope to find a forever family that will be happy to keep teaching me so I can enjoy my retirement. I’ll give them plenty of cuddles and nose ‘boops’ in return!

Bed time for me now, see you tomorrow! Marc.

Lastofthemohican Friday, 7/26 OMG! It's almost time!

Hi Everyone! It's me, Moe!!

Oh my gosh, I's so excited about tomorrow! I cants wait to meet the peoples and dogs comin' to see me! I hopes I don't get too nervous cause I wants to put my best paw forward.

I has a surprise for you! Remember when I told yous about the little "problem" I had with stairs. Well,  now I goes up the stairs and I goes down the stairs without any help at all! Sometimes, I even goes up the stairs jus cause I want to see what Foster Mama is up to! Ha! No sneakin' around on me anymores!

I also getting better on the leash. Last night Foster Mama was able to walk me with the other two hounds and I did real good on the leash. I LOVE goin' for walks! Theys amazing. Saw some deer...didn't care. Saw a squirrel...didn't care (ok, maybe cared a little). Visited my new girlfriend "Pippa" from next door again...she likes me cause I so handsome (she says my nose not too big). I likes her too and am happy I have a frend.

Foster Mama sez I mastered layin in bed. I struggled a little with the slickery beds theys got here. Here's me showin my achievement.

She sez this called "bed fail"...slickery bed failed me!
See! I gots it now! Look how small I fold up!
Wells, I thinks that's enough for now since I's seeing your tomorrow morning (dis laptop is murder on my dew claw). I hope I finds my forever family!

Love,

Moe

Peg Rio - 7/25: Rio's Top 5

Hello again friends,

I’ve only been retired for a few weeks, so I know I’ve still got lots of things to discover, but I thought I’d give you a rundown of a few of my favorite things

1.   Toys that squeak:

I am discovering new toys every day, but paws down my favorite remains squeaky snake.  He is SOOOOO squeaky!!!!
First we play!

Then we cuddle.

2.  ALL. THE.  FOODS.

Soft foods, hard foods, dog foods, people foods (if foster mom would only let me), crunchy treats, chewy treats.  You get the idea.   #foodie

3.  KONG

What is a Kong, you may ask?  It is vehicle of magical deliciousness.  My foster mom puts some kibble inside it, then seals the top with soft food and puts in the freezer.  When she leaves for work, I get my Kong in my crate.  It’s so good; it keeps me occupied for a long time.   Why do I love it so much?  See # 2 above. #foodie

 4.  SOFT BEDS:  I am still spending some time in my crate, but as I've gotten adjusted to retired life, I'm really digging these soft beds here at my foster home.  So cushiony.

5.  PEOPLE:   I get along well with my foster siblings, but I am definitely a "people person" and love to hang out near my foster mom.  She says I have some creeper tendencies, but I don't know what that means.

Whatcha doing foster mom?  Don't mind me standing over your shoulder.
Need any help?  Need any snuggles?
PS - Coca Cola did not pay for this product placement.

Well friends, that's all for now.  Until next time!

Lastofthemohican 7/24

Hi Everyone!

It's me Moe! I's counting down until Saturday and not gonna lie, I's getting pretty excited!
I doin' pretty good in my foster home. Foster Mama sez I's in training to be a family pet! All I knows is there are soft beds, treats, walks, and lots of lovin's...sign me up! I wants to be part of a family!

So, I's pretty much good at everything. I eats real good, I doesn't make ANY messes in the house, I gets along good with the cat (she's nice and I feels bad I called her a weirdo in my last post). I gets along with the house hounds and the dogs in the neighborhood.(big or small). I not too bad on a leash but maybe I gets too excited and pulls for the first block, but then I good. I's good in the crate too and go in without any problems at all. I a pretty laid back boy who is silly and full of loves for peoples and pets.

That's it...get my left side. My nose looks smaller from that angle.

So, I has to tell you my secret weakness. I's been struggling with the evil stairs. I pretty sure there are monsters at the top waiting to eat me. Foster Mama sez "Moe, put it out to the universe that you are not afraid of stairs." So, I sez "I not afraid of stairs...I not afraid of stairs...I not afraid of stairs...I AFRAID OF STAIRS!" Dang it! Well, the universe must of heard anyway, cause today I went up them all by myself when Foster Mama called me. She said (and I quote) "You did it! You're the best boy Moe!" Take that foster brother Louie..I the BEST boy!

Good lookin' right? Lookit that shiny fur!

All that to say I's getting Mo' better every day (get it?!?!)...Mo' better?! I crack myself up.

Can't wait to meet you soon! Pretty sure I love you!

Moe

MJ Cream - After Action Report

Hey y’all!  MJ with the hot wash on the pet store trip.  It was so much fun!  Lots of smells and row after row of good food and toys!  I didn’t know what to do with myself!  Good thing Fo-pa was there to offer some guidance!  I was walking around the entire store on the leash really well!  Even tho I wanted to sniff, eat, and smell EVERYTHING AT ONCE (sensory overload...OMG!) I didn’t,  I stuck by Fo-pa’s side with out too much trouble.  It was quite an adventure.

I met a new friend and I got my new Squeaky toy!
It squeaked...                        and squeaked...                  and squeaked!
It’s dead now.

Marc, go fetch!

Hi, it’s Marc again! I thought you might like to see how smart I am. I can play fetch...with myself!

Hi it’s Marc.

Hello, Marc here! I’ve been busy recently doing not much at all...which has been great! It was too hot on the weekend to do much so I practiced sleeping on my back. I’m super content hanging at home with my foster people and make sure they get plenty of attention and love.

Since it was a little cooler this morning I got to go for a longer walk. I’m definitely getting better with my leash manners but still need a bit of work. I’m such a friendly boy that I try and go up pretty much every driveway we walk past. Maybe someone in there needs a greyhound cuddle?!

My little foster sister is fun to be around. She’s so small that sometimes she walks right underneath me if I’m in her way! I think I would be happy to have a forever home with another dog, just as long as they didn’t interrupt my naps!

So many people have told me that I’m a sweet, calm and handsome boy. I couldn’t agree more, and hope to meet my forever family soon!

- Marc.

Peg Rio - 7/22: An Evening Stroll

Hello again friends,

Since it's been so hot, we had to wait until the sun went down to get a little walk in.

This time, my foster brother Petey came along. Here we are, walking in perfect sync!

Petey's been teaching me important walk things, like how to check the p-mail.  I do not feel as compelled to answer as many of them as he does though.

Foster mom says I'm getting better and better with these things called "leash manners".  She really likes it when I stay close to her side and don't pull.   It's hard at the start of a walk because there are so many things to see and smell, but I settle down pretty quickly.

Once we get home it's time to hit the hydration station!

And then it's time for a well deserved rest!
Check out my cute wagging tail!
Well that's about all for now.  It's time for me to hit the hay!

Until next time!

Peg Rio 7/21 - We're Having a Heatwave!

Hello again friends,

Retire, they said.
Move north, they said.
They have all 4 seasons, they said.

Well, I have been here for a week, and I'm starting to think I was told a tall tale, because it's been nothing but H-O-T and H-U-M-I-D.  Foster mom said it isn't always this way, but it's certainly put a damper in my outdoor activities.

So, what does one do for fun on a hot and muggy day?   Head to the pet store!   Foster mom cooled down the van and loaded me up for a trip!

First, we just did a little walking around; that sliding door was WEIRD, but foster mom said there was nothing to worry about, so I walked right in.   I did great on the smooth, shiny, floors.    We met a really nice cashier, who came over and gave me some love and some COOKIES!!!!

Next, we hit the food aisle.  So many choices!

How about this one foster mom?

Or maybe this one?

But then, we came around the corner, and I saw it.

The most amazing thing I have ever seen in all my life.

It was an open bar of nothing but TREATS!!!!!!

Have you ever seen anything so beautiful and amazing?    Treats of every kind.

Ohhhh foster mom, this one is calling to me!

Foster mom got a bag and got all different kinds for me and my foster siblings.   Also, things to know about retirement manners:  apparently, even when delicious noms are placed right at nose height, it is bad form to just help oneself.  Who could have guessed?!   So much to learn, but I'm learning my manners and working on being patient.

After we left the bar, we headed for the register and waited our turn to check out.  I got a few treats in the van for the trip home!

Please pay quickly, sir.  I am trying to be patient, but we have cookies.

Foster mom said I did really well with our trip to the store.  Sometimes when I try new things, or meet new people or non greyhound dogs, I get a little shy and cautious, but as long as my person with me is calm and confident and lets me know things are ok, I do just fine.

I sure hope there are lots of trips to the store in my future.   If you are looking for a great way to pass the time during this heatwave, I highly recommend your local pet shop.  Stay cool, friends!

Until next time,

Rio 🐾

MJ Cream - MJ all day

Hey all!  MJ here to tell you it has been soooo hot lately!  I gathered all my colleagues together to have a meeting about how to beat the heat.  The general consensus was to just sleep on it...so...I...did!

I still get to run and play a little in the FoFam’s backyard for a few minutes, but my walks have been limited.  FoPa tells me that we are going to the pet store today to get me some food and to meet other amanalls and peoples.  He also says the place will have air condition so that’s cool (ha!)  If I’m a good boy, maybe I’ll get my very own toy.  I love toys and my FoPeeps have been very kind to let me barrey theirs.  Anyway...I’ll update you on the pet store x-ka-paid and hopefully have a new squeaky to show off!  I know my furever family is out there and I can’t wait till you can take me out and show me off to peoples and amanalls!  I’ll be a greyt ambassador for our family and make you so proud!

LastoftheMohican July 21st

Hi Everyone!

It's Moe! I told Foster Mama "Hurry UP and blog!!! My new family needs to know how I'm doing!"

I had a busy week (sniff...we won't talk about what they did to my "parts"), but I'm adjusting well. Foster Mama says I'm "rezileeant" whatever that's supposed to mean! Anyways, I arrived at my new foster home on Thursday and I was really shy and quiet at first, but now I OWN that place. It didn't take me long to learn that living in a house is a pretty sweet gig! I'm so good at it that Foster Mama took off my belly band! I haven't had any accidents in the house! She sez I'm a really good boy and smart!

My first day with Foster Mom...I was feeling shy

My foster home has two greyhounds and a cat! I get along really well with the hounds, but the cat is a weirdo, so I just ignore her. Last night I got to meet some new friends and their "mini-weiner" dog! Whoa...that little thing was alllllllll over the place, but I just ignored her and she went and tortured the other two hounds instead. As for the peoples....oh my gosh! I loved them! I went to the door and said "where you been all my life?" I leaned on them, got pats from them, and showed them to the living room. They's my new friends for life.

I'm working hard at learning new things round here. I've been going for walks every day. I pull a little on the leash at first cause I'm SO EXCITED, but then I relax and am a good. The stairs...welllllll...maybe I'm struggling a bit with that. I'm real good at going down them, but going up them is kinda hard! Foster Mama sez we're gonna work on that this week.

Foster Papa sez I'm a big, strong, boy! He calls me "Squinty-eyed Moe" and sez I probably won all my races "by a nose" cause I have a long one! RUDE!!! Foster Mama sez I'm beautiful and have the BEST personality...not too clingy...just lovey-dovey.

You don't think this photo makes my nose look big do you?
Well, I gotta go and get my beauty sleep. I can't wait to meet you next week!!!!

Love,

Moe

Meet Marc.

Hi I’m Marc! My racing name was ‘MJ Flying Narc’. I’ve come up to my foster family from Florida. Guess what? It’s exactly one month today since my last race! I think this whole retirement thing is going to work out fine as I’m already really good at it.

I’m very much a people-hound. I’ll come straight in for cuddles and scratches. If you stand still for too long I’ll start leaning on you. There’s only one place for me to sleep, and that’s near where you’re sleeping!

I’m really good with my foster sister who is a little beagle mix. I think I would do just fine in a forever home that has another dog, but would probably be ok as a solo dog. As long as I was getting lots of attention!

I do need a bit of practice on the leash and my foster people said I’m a little bit of a handful. I’m just a bit excited I guess! I’ll learn quickly I’m sure. I do like walks, but I think I’m most happy relaxing and napping.

Maybe I’m the perfect addition to your family?

- Marc 🦴

MJ Cream - No shirt, no shoes, no problem!

Hey fans!  MJ here for for the win!  I just wanted everyone to know that I had an awesome outing today!  I went to the beach by the lake near the Fo-fam’s place.  It was a very pretty day but man, was it hot and humid!  It wasn’t too hot for my feet, though...Fo-pa checked to make sure, plus I walked in the grass most of the way.  At the beach, I saw a bunch of ducks!  I watched very intently as they swam away.  I don’t know why the didn’t want to hang out with me...I only wanted to see if they squeezed like the toys I play with, LOL!  On the walk back home, a couple of neighbors had their lawn sprinklers on and me and Fo-ma ran through them!  What fun!  And refreshing too!  This place is pretty cool here but I know it can’t possibly compare to my furever home...where ever that may be.  I can’t wait to meet my furever family and take fun excursions with you!  Until then, keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the hound!
