Mac: 10/10

So who wants the dog who has it all?  The dog that is the complete package?  The dog ready for anything?  The dog who wakes up everyday happy and ready to face the world with his joy?

If you do, then you've come to the right blog.  Mac is available!!

Mac is doing terrific in foster care.  He is all happy and ready for anything the day throws at him.  Loves to go for walks, loves attention, loves to play with toys, loves to meet people and loves love!  Mac is housebroken, sleeps thru the night (although he's ready for breakfast every day) and has found and loves the joy of tossing toys around the living room.  He hasn't met a person he doesn't like.

I took him into the prison with me last week where I do service dog training and let the ladies handle him.  He was a trooper.  A bit overwhelmed at first but totally wanted to do the obstacle course the other dogs were doing, so we let him.  We let him do everything except climb under the chairs. He's too big for that. I will post some of those photos this week.

If you want the dog who has everything, the enthusiasm, the energy, the heart of a viking, and gives kisses then Mac is the dog for you.  The only thing Mac asks is that he not be an only dog and you have no cats.  While we are working him with exposure to cats we do not think he will safely live with cats so a house with no cats is what he needs.  That's it - otherwise he is the complete package, the whole enchilada, hook line and sinker, the whole ball of wax and the whole nine yards!!!!

Hi everyone,

This has been an exciting week for me.  We had some company at my foster home.  It is my FM's cousin from Georgia.  I am not sure what a cousin is or where Georgia is, but I really like this fellow. He plays with me and lets us in and out when we need to go.  I would like for him to stay here forever or for him to take me home with him.  He has some little dogs at home (whatever they are) so that is probably not a good home for me.  I will really miss him when he leaves tomorrow.

When FM was getting ready for our company, she moved the toy box.  I had never seen that before. WOW it was full of greyt things.  I have moved every toy to a different place in the house.  They are everywhere now.  I can just walk around the house and play with a toy anywhere.  Life is sure good in retirement.

Today is Sunday and that means it is nap day.  Duh! Every day is nap day for me, but today we get to nap with FM and that is especially fun.  We just have to make sure FM is awake in time for dinner.

My FM, and our company, keeps telling me that I am a really good boy.  I like to hear that because I am looking for my forever home and if I am good then my perfect match is out there for me.  If you think you may be that perfect match for me, let the folks at GEGR know and they will set up a "meet" for us.

Until later,
Mac

Hello Everyone,

There has been a lot of talk about some thing that I don't understand.

First FM is talking about a thing called Labor Day.  They say it is a whole weekend with a holiday day on Monday.  I think I understand "weekend" and "Monday," but what is a "Holiday".  I know Monday is the day that FM is gone most of the day at a place called "work".  I have gotten used to that day.  Weekend is the time that FM is home a lot.  But what is the "Labor" thing?  FM says that it is a day that she doesn't have to work, so why isn't it called "No Work" day.  That makes much more sense.  Why make it so complicated?  Big people have so many words for things, how can I ever keep up?  Then I hear that the kids go back to school the next day.  Do I have to go back to school?  I remember being schooled at the race track and that was hard.  I don't want to do that again.  FM says that retired means I don't have to go to school, but I do have to keep on learning new things.  OK I think I can do that.

The other thing that has been talked about a lot is a thing called "Harvey."  They said it is a storm  with a lot of rain in a place called Texas and that people's homes are being flooded out.  That is really scary.  Then it started raining here.  Oh no, are we going to be flooded?  FM says we are safe here in our home and all I have to worry about is getting wet when I go out to pee and poop.  I don't mind getting wet and being dried off when I come back in the house is really fun.  FM plays tuggies with the towel and me.  She pretends that she doesn't like it, but I know she really does like it.

I am still looking for my forever home.  My FM says I am a really good boy and that I have learned so much.  I am happy here but I am looking forward to my own family.

Thanks for reading about me.

My FM has been trying to get some pictures of me, but I am not really fond of the process.  I much rather she just rub my tummy or give me a cookie or play tuggies with me.  Anyway, she kept at it and here is the result.  Besides being really handsome, I am also kinda silly.

Oh no.  Here she comes with the camera.

If I don't look at her, Maybe she will go away.

This is all so boring.

OK.  One shot.  Is that enough?

Now she is following me around the house.

FM give me a break.

I will lay down here so she can't get to me.

Why does she keep doing that?

Let me duck out of the picture.

If I close me eyes will she go away?

Now I am tired.  She is still taking my picture.  But I do look kinda cute here.

Oh, Maybe I can take a nap.

Sometimes FM and I hold hands.

This is my serious look.

OK now it is fun.  We have a toy.

I have a toy and you don't.

Wow she is still taking pictures.

How long is this going to last?

Maybe I can hide behind the toy.

You may have one more and then I am finished.

OK.  All done!  Now it is time for my nap.

Thanks for checking me out.

Love, Mac

Hello Everyone,

I am sorry I have been out of touch.  I had some company visiting and it took up a lot of time and really wore me out.

My friend Tubby came for a visit.  He is a really neat guy and it was fun showing him the ins and outs of my foster home.  I taught him all the important things like how to let FM know we want to go out, how to run in the yard and how to get a treat.  He taught me some new things also like how to dig a big hole in the yard.  It was really fun to dig and see the dirt fly, but FM says that is not a good thing. How can something that is so much fun be a bad thing?  FM might be wrong about digging but I will do what she wants for now.

The weather has been really hot here.  It stays pretty cool in my foster house and I really like that. They say it is air conditioning, but it is a good thing whatever you call it.  Wonder why they don't have that at the track.

I have finally learned not to dart out doors when they are opened.  My FM still watches me carefully, but I stand and wait for my lead to go on and to be told it is OK to come out.  The only exception is the door to the back yard.  Since that is fenced, I can go out there without a lead.  This was a hard one to learn because I want to check out everything that is new and an opened door holds lots of interesting things.  I now trust FM to let me know if I can inspect something or if it is not a good place for me to go.  When Tubby was here, he told me about being loose without a person and a lead. He said it was really scary to be lost and it feels really good when you are found.  I don't think I ever want to experience being lost.

I have also graduated to sleeping outside the crate at night.  FM used to put me in the crate at night, which wasn't so bad, but now I get to sleep in the bedroom with FM and that is neat.  If I need her at night or if she is trying to sleep in, I can nudge her instead of having to bark and whine in the crate.

I really like the toys we have here.  I also like the dog beds.  I try to give my FM and foster brother some decorating advice by moving the toys and beds into other rooms.  They don't seem to appreciate my decorating skills and keep moving things back where they were.  I think it is important to have a bed and a toy in every room in this house.  The only exception is the kitchen.  The only things I want to do in the kitchen is eat, eat, eat.  Did I mention that I like to eat?

I am still looking for my forever home.  If you think I would be a good addition to your family, give the folks at GEGR a call.  We could have a meet and greet.

Bye for now,
Mac

Hello everyone,

Yesterday was the birthday of the USA.  There was lots going on including some loud noises at night that FM said were fireworks.  Some of my friends back at the track are afraid of those loud noises, but not me.  I am brave and loud noises are not a problem.  My FB and I slept right through all the noise.

I am still enjoying life here at my foster home.  I am learning to settle down more.  The best thing that I have learned is "tummy rubs."  When I first came here, I would get up as soon as my FM got up. Now I have learned that if she gets up, sometimes she get on the floor with me and if I lay there, she rubs my tummy.  That is the most wonderful feeling.  I go right to sleep it feels so good.  When she stops, I paw at her and roll over (real cute like) so she will keep on with the rubs.  So now my favorite things in retirement life are sleeping, eating, running in the yard and tummy rubs.

Are you good at giving tummy rubs?  If not, I will be glad to teach you.  Let the folks at GEGR know if you would like to meet me.

Bye for now,
Mac

Mac: 6/27 - has new duties

Hello everyone,

I am learning so much here in my foster home.  I now know how to tell my FM that I want to go out or that I want to go to bed or that I am hungry.  The last one is the most important to me.  I love to eat.  At first I wasn't too sure about getting treats from my FM's hand.  Now I know how much fun that is.

I am also learning about toys.  Who would have thought they could be so much fun.  I carry them around the house, shake them and throw them in the air.  The most fun is moving the dog beds around the house.  They are big and sometimes it is hard to get them down small areas like hallways, but I am determined and it is a lot of fun.  FM tells me NO (which means I am not supposed to do what I am doing) but she is also laughing, so she must like it.

When I was at the track, I didn't get a lot of "soft" loving.  I learned to jump on people and bump into them.  My FM is teaching me to get soft loving.  I stand near her and she hugs me and rubs my back and tummy and gives me kisses.  I really, really like that.  I am learning that is a better way to get attention.

I have a new duty here at my foster home.  When my FM goes in the kitchen, I have to go with her and protect her.  The kitchen has slick floors and some things are hot and some are NO things.  I am afraid FM will get hurt so I lay on the floor to protect her.  I am also there to catch anything that might fall on the floor.  This helps FM keep the kitchen clean. 😇

Here are some pictures of me enjoying my retirement.

I like it here at my foster home, but I am still looking for my forever home.  If you think I might be a good addition to your home, talk to the folks at GEGR.  They know how wonderful I am.

Bye for now,
Mac

Mac: 6/21 - new here

Hello everyone,

I have just come from the race track in Alabama and I am here to tell you that life in my new foster home is nothing like my life at the track.  There are so many new things I need to learn about.

One of the first things I learned was there is this thing called glass.  You can see through it, but if you try to walk through it, BAM you get knocked in your head.  It only took one time for me to learn that lesson.  Now I just look through the glass.

I like the regular meals here at my foster home.  The food is yummy and sometime I get a treat or two.  I also like the soft beds here.  There are beds in every room so I can always be with my foster mom (FM) and foster greyhound brother (FB).

My FB is an older guy so I watch him and follow his lead.  He knows the ropes, and I am learning a lot from him.  One thing I have already learned is that I can get nice kisses, rubs and scratches from my FM if I just stand near her and be still.  I like the touching and the kisses.  I am going to work on getting more of those.

I hope sometime soon I can find my very own forever home.  If you think that you might be that forever home, talk to the good folks at GEGR.  They can tell you all about me.

That is about all I have to say for now.  I think it is probably nap time.  I need to rest up so I can be ready to go to bed when it is time.

Until next time,
Mac
