Kay's Copper: 1/7 - New Year, New Fam (Paws Crossed)

Happy New Year! I hope everyone was safe and made good decisions... * cough cough * like wanting to adopt me, for example. Whew man... I must be coming down with something. Should get that cough checked out, eh?

Anyway, did you know that people W I L L I N G L Y stay up until midnight to watch some sparkly ball drop? I mean, what is the point? You can't even play with that stinkin' ball! Why waste time watching a useless ball drop to the ground when you could be getting your beauty snooze on? Humans.... * mumbles under breath * ...and this is the superior species?

Apart from that, the holiday season was pretty fun. I appreciated all the love and closeness that it brings with families. I am hoping that I get me a family to celebrate my Christmas with in 2019! Put THAT on your resolution list this year, folks. "Adopt Copper..... check!" Fun fact: I can also help with to-do lists. Pretty fancy, yeah?

But what good are all my shenanigans and nonsensical talk without a little progress report, right? So here goes:

Look... I'm trying my darnedest to be a good boy and not counter surf. Foster Mom says I'm easily corrected. And hey, I should get SOME credit for no longer trying to get on all the furniture. Nevertheless, I will try harder to refrain from surfing the countertops....pinky pawmise. Ha!

I really like those super tough toys that dispense treats and peanut butter. I really like to work those things until I get every last bit out. They're fun and keep this fast-tracked mind from being bored.

I love to cuddle! I'll cuddle ANYONE AT ANYTIME ANYWHERE. In the rain, on a train, on a plane.... how else did that story go? Whatever, you get my drift. I really like hugs and kisses and cuddles and pets and scritches and all the things that have to do with me getting love. Pretty short list. You'll get the hang of it.

So anyway, I'm going to go catch up on all the sleep I missed out on by watching that stupid, sparkly, useless ball drop..... Copper - out!

Please enjoy these photos of me being a handsome, dapper, gentleman of a hound.

Kay's Copper: 12/5 - Where the (Slumber) Party At?

Hello, just your favorite turn-key hound reporting in! The past week or so has been pretty chill. I'm still minding my manners like the proper gentleman I am.

You know what else is gentlemanly? Cuddling. I'll cuddle all day! No strings attached!

See? Cuddles. All day. Everyday. Face to face. By myself.

I like to be where the (slumber) party's at!

Not-so-gentlemanly.... sometimes I like to let it all hang out. Sometimes... you just gotta let it all hang out...in a totally-not-creepy-or-weird-sort-of-way... this is getting awkward. Anyway, moving on!

Foster Mom made me my very own Christmas stocking! Can you believe that?! I hope it's filled up so much and so heavy by the end of it that it falls off the wall and RIGHT INTO MY MOUTH! NOM NOM NOM NOM
(*I wonder if Santa likes to cuddle? Maybe his reindeer? Surely one of the elves? Hmmm...*)

Anyway, that's it for now. There are zoomies to be zoomed and naps to be napped!

Kay's Copper: 12/2 - It's Beginning to Look a lot Like ZOOMIES

Howdy there! Guess what I just found out about? S A N T A!!! Did you know that if you are a good boy (or girl), that this strange, jolly fella breaks into your house and leaves you with all this cool stuff? NEAT, RIGHT?! I am SO excited! I wonder what Big Red (aka Santa) is gonna bring me? You know what I'd really love more than anything? A forever family! I only wish I had a narwhal pal to say "Bye Copper! I hope you find your dad!" I mean... I've seen some narwhal plushy toys at the pet store... ((hint hint)).

Just the thought of my own mom and dad (and maybe some kids, too!) just makes me sooooo excited! So excited, in fact, that I can't help but zoooooooom around the room! Watch me go! * vroooooom *

Phew! Now I'm tired... Guess I'll be off for a nap now.

I sure hope I get to meet some more families soon! I just know my family is out there probably thinking of me too, I hope.

Until next time,

~ Coppaaaaaah

Kay's Copper: 11/24 - Nobody panic, but we have roaches!

Okay before anyone is like "eeeewwww" - hear me out. These are not that "AHHHH! ROACHES! *GAG*" no! These are the "AWWWW! ROACHES! *SWOON*!"

In case you still have not an earthly idea of what I'm talking about, a "roach" in a greyhound is when the pooch lays on his/her back with paws in the air like they just don't care. Ya know... like a roach who has seen better days, probably.

Us greyhounds O N L Y roach when we are 9000% comfortable with our environment and everyone in it. (That might have been a slight exaggeration of statistics, but we do like to be content.)

Anyway, Thanksgiving was a hoot! Lots of family time and lots of good-smelling food just out of reach. I could've surfed that counter, but I'm working on being a good boy for my future family.

Speaking of good boys, guess who has no thumbs and hasn't pooped or peeped in the house since Day 2? * T H I S  G U Y*

Anywho, I'm off to take my midday nap. Gotta rest up for dinner! Happy Howlidays, folks!

Kay Copper: 11/18 - Play Hard, Kiss Harder

It may just be the spirit of the season, but I am feeling the L O V E lately! I love other dogs, and people, and toys, and kisses, and naps, and snacks, and beds, and ALL THE THINGS!

I surprised Foster Mom by planting a big, wet smooch right on her face the other day. She felt so special and told me what a sweet boy I was! All in a day's work, m'lady!

I am also happy to report that I am getting better at going potty outside and not doing my biz indoors. Told you that I'd get it!

People are the best. I love the people. People bring me snacks and toys. OH! TOYS! I love toys! I love to play with toys. Toys are the best invention! How many times am I going to say toys? Toys.

Also enjoyed by yours truly is play time with other puppers. (That means dogs for those of you who aren't hip on the lingo.)

Retirement has been a blast so far. People call me a sweet boy and a silly pup. Anyone know what handsome means? I keep hearing that a lot as well. I miss chasing that robo-bunny with my furry friends, but I'll take a cushy bed, constant love and attention, and my toys over that any day.

Until next time,

~ Coppaaaaahhhh (Copper)

Kay's Copper: 11/12 - These Paws Were Made for Walkin'

Well hey, howdy, HEY! My racing name is Kay's Copper, but Copper is just fine for me. No need to be all extra fancy with the titles. Buuuuut if you wanted to be fancy, I'll take:

Kay's Copper of the Plushy Bed Isles, Professional Leash Walker, Counter Surfer of the First Men, Baldest of Butts, King of the Couch, First of His Name

But like I said... Copper is fine... I guess.

That "Professional Leash Walker" thing, though - that actually wasn't a joke. Foster Mom says I ROCK at walking on a leash. I'm calm and walk with lots of slack most of the time! I know for some "lesser" dogs it seems like a big thing to accomplish, but I am NO. LESSER. DOG. I am fancy and shiny and regal and sophisticated.

My first few days in retirement have been pretty chill. I'm learning boundaries and the big "no-no's" of the house. You know what a couple of big "no-no's" are? 1) Doing my biz in the house and 2) Surfing on the counter. Don't these people know I was a World Champ Surfer in a former life? Let me live. I mean, seriously, I've never been inside a home before. How am I supposed to know?

Anyways, no need to worry though. Foster Mom and Foster Dad are making sure I know what's what before I go on to my forever home. (*whispers* You shoulda seen the look on their faces when they came into the kitchen with me at eye level. LOL) Nevertheless, I pinky pawmise to work on that.

(That colorful thing around my waist is a bellyband because apparently I have to earn trust not to do my business in the house before I can go without it. Geesh...)

Just me and my bald rear end supervising the playing of the iPad by the human kiddo. #baldisbeautiful

Well, I reckon that's all for now. I can't take all the spotlight as some of my other fast friends need to gloat tell you about themselves. Until next time! ~Coppaaaaaah
