GRANDE - Checking in!

Wow!  Welcome to all the new dogs who came in!  It seems just like yesterday that Grande got here!  So, wanted you to remember that he's still around and hoping for his forever home.  Here's what's been going on over the last week:
Remember I told you he paces at the door when he wants to go out?  Here's the proof:
And when he comes in, he'll just chill at his favorite spot:

He also made a new friend that he just loves to carry around - he's so gentle with Mr. Blueberry. (And I swear I can here him saying "Wheeee" when he tosses him up in the air!

Did I mention he's a great watch dog too?  He's the first one to the steps when there's a knock at the door.  He's learning to not come down the steps and bombard whoever is coming in since it's a small foyer; but, he's just so excited to say "Hi"!  Guess the only thing he'll do to a burglar is low them over saying hello - lol!

And then there's Mr. Blueberry again with him this morning ... his forever friend ... I hope that whoever chooses Grande is okay with adopting Mr. Blueberry too!

Just look how cute he is with him ... even shares his favorite chillin' spot:

Well, that's all for now - spa day is definitely on the agenda; so, I'll update you on how that goes soon!

2/26 Grande

Guess what?  I have a little secret ... the best kept secret - it's GRANDE and he's back and ready for his retirement.  After a long month of some basic treatments from being a bit under the weather (he got pretty sick from a tick-born disease), he's 100% himself and more than ready for his forever home.  And trust me, he's already a tough one to let go because he's so incredibly perfect!

So let me see how I can sum this up; loving, silly, happy, obedient (for the most part), oh and did I say loving?  He loves each of us equally which is great - he loves following my 8-year old all around and does the "bow"-playing with him.  He is such a ham and just will melt your heart with those big brown eyes!

It didn't take long for him to get the routine and blend right it with our other two rescues ("non-greyhounds"). He hasn't had one single accident since he's been here .... seriously .... not one!  And he will even pace and go to the door when he does need to go out!  Then he goes out, does his business and is ready to come back in.  Although, those beautiful days we've had, he's quite enjoyed sunning himself on the deck!  Then, of course, it's back inside to relax. LOL

He likes knowing everything about everything - he sticks that long pointy nose in anything he can to get a good sniff .... the fridge ... the dishwasher ... behind that curtain under the counter ... he's just too much!  And, of course, he loves being near you and usually likes resting his head on your lap when you're sitting doing something; like on the computer ....

Now, that is one thing about him, if you're home, he wants to know where you are. He does great in the crate while you're out; maybe a few whines of dislikes but nothing earth-shattering or persisting.  But, if you're home he'll follow you and settle perfectly in any room that you're in; but, if you leave the room, i.e. to go to the bathroom,  he's gonna follow.  And when you do, better have the couch blocked so he can't get to it because if he's not waiting for you at the door, that's where you'll find him!  Trust me, I learned the hard way ... "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me".  After the second time, I had to gate the living room; so, new family beware - this is most likely a couch cuddler because he looks at us with those big brown eyes hoping for some welcoming room.  But, of course, he settles for cuddling with one of his foster-sisters.

Oh, got cats?  No words needed:

Well, he's getting ready to have a bath soon.  More pics to come; but, for now, I'll leave you with this:

Grande - 20 Jan - Adoption Day is Coming!

Hey All,

Just a quick up date on Grande.  He's getting ready for adoption day.  This curious, friendly, cuddly, affectionate sidekick is ready and waiting for his forever home!

He we are having a macho man hug.

I now call him "Macho Grande". In fact, my wife asked me, "If he gets adopted, how will you get over his absence?"  I replied,

See you all tomorrow!

Super C Grande - 18 Jan - Grande 2, Back in the Hobbit

I made the mistake, today, of reading The Lord ot the Rings to my good friend Grande.  I think Frodo was his favorite.  Here he is, acting the part of Frodo as he flees from the Shire.  I give you...

Mr. Under Heel!  He's having a Merry (Brandybuck) ol' time. If you think those puns are bad, you don't know the Gandalf of it.  Har! That was a Pippin!

(That disembodied nose next to me is my very own Pepper!)

Ok, alright, I get it.  You'd rather hear more about Grande.  Well, he's doing great.  He's VERY affectionate and will give you a kiss if you like.  He'll lean on you when you pet him.  He'll obviously, curl up next to you for some quality cuddle time.  If happy, playful, cuddly Greyhounds are not your thing, stay away from this guy!  However, if you DO like that sort of thing, run (even though Grande is faster than you are) to the next adoptathon and meet him for yourself!  You won't be disappointed!

Super C Grande: 1/16 - Livin' la vida Grande!

Hello everyone.  I'm here to introduce you to Grande.  Just look at him!

Wait!  That's not Grande.  Hold on a second.,  HEEEEEERES GRANDE!

GRRR!  Ok. Ok. I think we got this.  Will the REAL Grande please stand up???

There we go... oh wait.  Well, good enough, rigbt?  So, This is Grande.  He figured out how to enjoy retirement just about 24 hours after leaving the track behind forever.  You would not know he was a track dog Saturday morning.  Most fosters take a little time to adjust to their new surroundings.  This is perfectly normal and expected.  After a couple days, they figure out dog beds.  They start looking for attention.  They open up to you and learn what it is to be comfortable, happy and loved.  Grande super-accelerated the process.  Look at Grande and decide for yourself if this is the kind of dog you want in your family!

He figured out toys!

He's good with kids (don't mind the couch)!

And, let me tell you, he loves to ride in the car.  Super C Grande is a Super Foster, see?
