Flying Hemsworth: 11/22 - I'll Have You At Hello

Norman here and it's high time I said 'Hello'.  My foster mom says that's all I need to say when I meet people.  She says I'm a tall, handsome boy and once you see me you will just swoon. I don't know what any of that means.  I think I can do a better job.

My name is Flying Hemsworth but you can call me Norman.  I'll be four years old next month and ran 126 races in WV. Then I found out I was being retired and it was time to find my very own family. I'm so excited about that.  I've been hanging out with foster mom while I learn the ropes of retirement.  She said there's a lot to learn about being in a house especially when you're as tall as I am. I have lots of foster brothers and one foster sister.  Guess who's the tallest......that's right, Me!

That's me standing with foster mom's son. He's the tallest human in the house. We hang out a lot together.  Something about tall fellas and sticking together.

I can't wait to share with you all about my life in a foster home.  Right now Im going to check out the kitchen and see if anyone is making my food.

Felicity: 11/21 - Field Trips and Food Treats!

Hi Everyone, Felicity here with some exciting stuff! The foster parents took me on a field trip. They said we were going to the "home depot." I thought I was shopping for a home but turns out just getting some stuff for the foster home and meeting a few people along the way. That's okay though because I learned some things. First I learned little humans are greyt! I met a few and foster mom had her hands full handing the big people GEGR contact cards and didn't get a picture but she said I should tell you that even when I was swarmed with three little humans all wanting to pet me and hug me I was like a rock star! I just loved all the attention. If you have little humans who want to hug me and love me I am A-Okay with that! I also learned that I love shopping. I enjoyed my field trip a lot. If you like to shop at dog-friendly stores you and I were just made for each other! Here I am as we were waiting to check out.

Here's another thing I am enjoying, special treats! Foster mom says it is good for me to learn some people house rules. I already know that we only go potty outside and when the lights go out at night we stay quiet and rest until foster parents get up in the morning. Foster mom says now it's time I learn some important words. The first word I am learning is "down."  Down means I should lay on the floor or a bed. Foster mom is so proud of me when I do the right thing I get very special treats. This chicken is DELICIOUS!

I'm going to practice down some more and maybe even learn some more words so I can get more yummy treats. Tail wags til next time, Felicity!

Denise: 11/20 - Settling in

Hi everyone it's Denise,

I'm the new girl in town but you would never know it.  In a mere 2 days I have managed to master the stairs- up-and-down!  My Foster family can hardly believe it.  I think I've set a world record or something.

I also discover something else- toys! Oh glorious squeaky fluffy objects, how I love you.  I must admit that I'm kinda obsessed.

I get along great with my foster brother and sister.  And I'm very good around kids.  I mentioned that I have a human foster brother that's 10.  But tonight I had a 3 year old human visitor.   I was very excited and wanted to give him kisses.  He wasn't so sure that was a good idea.

I am still learning about table manners, but I listen when I am told no.  They just don't understand that food tastes so yummy. I heard about this thing called Thanksgiving.   I hope there is food because my foster parents have been working hard on moving things from room to room. I think being human is exhausting.

Well that's all for now.  Talk to you in a few days.

Love, Denise

Felicity: 11/20 - Getting Settled

Hello Everyone, I'm Felicity and I'm just beginning my "real" retirement. You see I "retired" from racing a few years ago but I went back to the farm and raised a couple litters as a brood mom. Now my pups have gone on to their own careers and I am looking to finally settle down. The people at GEGR said they would help me learn about life in a people house and find a people family of my own.  The first step was a trip to Greyhound Central for spa day. That's where all the new retirees get all clean and loved on a little and have our glamour shots taken for the website. Here I am getting a little love from one of the volunteers!

Next was a ride to my foster home. I heard it was going to be a long ride but I was pretty tired already so I slept through most of it. When I arrived I met my foster pack. They are nice enough but I found a quiet spot in the corner where I like to hang out. I found I can get real comfy here and relax.

Yep, this is the spot for me. I enjoy the peace and quiet here for a rest.

My foster home also has these great beds that are just super comfy.

They really know how to keep a girl cozy here!

Well, that's all for now. I will update you again soon on my journey! Until next time, tail wags and nose kisses from me, Felicity!

Cookie: 11/20 - I see you FM!

So FM has been on travel, and I got to see her when she FaceTimed us!

I hear you and see you FM! Where are you?!?!

Okay fine. You’re not touching me so I’m gonna be sad.

Until next time (and FM is home)!

Denise: 11/18 - My first day

Hi everyone   I'm Denise, but people call me  Dee as well.  I'm 2 1/2 years old but I managed to run a lot of races until I hurt my leg and started this "retirement " thing.

I just spent my first day with my foster family and I had so much fun!  I went on a couple of walks outside but not too far because I still need to get my strength back in my leg.   I'm a great leash walker my foster family says.

I heard a lot about these things called steps.  My foster home has a bunch of them. I'm really good with the shorter flights but I'm still working on the larger ones.  I'm a fast learner!  Once I'm up I do a great job of settling down for the night.  I didn't pace too much and I already have a favorite bed.

My foster family has two other greyhounds that I get along great with.   they are showing me the ropes of retired life.  I am learning no eating of the kitchen table or counters but mostly about laying on the most comfy beds ever!  I know when it's not okay to do something and when I do something right because I get lots of praise and pets.

I also have a 10 year old human foster brother who I love.  He loves to pet and talk to me.  I gave him some kisses and some to my foster mom and dad.

I'm sure to have lots of adventures in the coming weeks and I will share as often as I can.

Love, Denise

Kay Copper: 11/18 - Play Hard, Kiss Harder

It may just be the spirit of the season, but I am feeling the L O V E lately! I love other dogs, and people, and toys, and kisses, and naps, and snacks, and beds, and ALL THE THINGS!

I surprised Foster Mom by planting a big, wet smooch right on her face the other day. She felt so special and told me what a sweet boy I was! All in a day's work, m'lady!

I am also happy to report that I am getting better at going potty outside and not doing my biz indoors. Told you that I'd get it!

People are the best. I love the people. People bring me snacks and toys. OH! TOYS! I love toys! I love to play with toys. Toys are the best invention! How many times am I going to say toys? Toys.

Also enjoyed by yours truly is play time with other puppers. (That means dogs for those of you who aren't hip on the lingo.)

Retirement has been a blast so far. People call me a sweet boy and a silly pup. Anyone know what handsome means? I keep hearing that a lot as well. I miss chasing that robo-bunny with my furry friends, but I'll take a cushy bed, constant love and attention, and my toys over that any day.

Until next time,

~ Coppaaaaahhhh (Copper)
