Bourbon the Greyhound had a looooong day. He started out with a very long car trip from Charleston, WV - with traffic it was about 8 hours. When he finally got to Greyhound Central (GHC) in Southern Maryland, he had to eat, get a bath, get his nails done and go through the process of getting ready to go home with a foster family. That's where I come in. Once he was done at GHC, we put him in the car for a just-over-2-hour trip back to our house near the northeast corner of Maryland. We got back here at 10:30pm. his day started around 8am. He was exhausted! He was perfect on the car ride, though. No whining, just stretched out and napped for most of it. When we got here, he had to meet my two 'hounds, Whiskey and Pepper. The introductions went really well, but it was late, so he found his bed and everyone else went to bed, too.
We got up this morning and he had breakfast, a mid day break and a nice dinner. He discovered dog beds outside of his crate (this is pretty big for a day one foster), was very outgoing and affectionate and generally made himself at home. He's been nothing but amazing all day. Very friendly and a joy to have around. Tonight, we're going to work on stairs! For folks who don't know greyhounds, they live a very flat life and many don't know how to walk up and downstairs, they don't play with toys and take time to adjust to life outside their crates.
